Performance & Safety

Engine

The 2008 Veracruz is powered by a 3.8L. 260hp, 24-valve, DOHC, V6 engine with Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT).

Airbags¹

All three rows of passengers are surrounded in safety thanks to six standard airbags. They include dual advanced front airbags, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags and roof-mounted side-curtain airbags.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control System (TCS)

Standard on every Veracruz is Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control System (TCS), a driving stability system designed to sense oversteer and understeer conditions. During unexpected and dangerous situations, it adjusts the braking power of each wheel while utilizing the Traction Control System to help restore the driver's course.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Traction Control System (TCS) are meant to enhance conscientious driving habits and are not a substitute for safe driving practices.

All-wheel Drive

Veracruz's standard On-demand All-wheel Drive (AWD) increases traction by delivering more power to the front or rear wheels depending on driving conditions. You also have the option to lock it in place so that power is evenly distributed between the front and rear wheels.

Transmission

The silky smooth 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC™ is the first 6-speed automatic transmission in Hyundai’s lineup and comes standard on all models.

Brakes

No matter which Veracruz model you choose, you’ll enjoy the peace of mind of an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) that prevents tires from slipping due to wheel locking. In addition, all Veracruz models come equipped with Brake Assist (BA) which augments the braking system by sensing panic conditions and generating increased levels of braking power with significant reductions in stopping distances in critical situations.

Rear Parking Assist

Putting your Veracruz right where you want it safely is a snap, thanks to its Rear Parking Assist system. It’ll get you into, and out of, tight spots by alerting you to objects in your way.

Active Head Restraints

Veracruz is equipped with front seat active head restraints. Utilizing occupant’s weight thrust onto the backrest when the vehicle is rear-ended, the headrest automatically shifts forward, reducing injuries to the head and neck.

¹ The Supplemental Restraint (Airbag) System (SRS) is designed to work with the 3-point seatbelt system. The SRS deploys in certain front end impact conditions where significant injury is likely. The SRS is not a substitute for seatbelts which must still be worn at all times. Children under the age of 13 should be securely restrained in the rear seat. NEVER place a rear-facing child seat in the front seat of a vehicle with a passenger-side airbag.
