Choose any V6 model and under the hood you’ll find a 3.3L, 234 hp, 24-valve, DOHC V6 engine with Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) and a variable induction system, while 4-cylinder models come with a 2.4L, 162 hp, 14-valve, DOHC 4-cylinder engine with CVVT.
Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control System
Standard on Sonata Limited is Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control System (TCS), a cutting-edge driving stability system designed to sense oversteer and understeer conditions. During unexpected and dangerous situations, it adjusts the braking power of each wheel to help restore the driver's course.
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Traction Control System (TCS) are meant to enhance conscientious driving habits and are not a substitute for safe driving practices.
Transmission
The GL model is equipped with manual transmission, or you can choose the silky smooth 4-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC™ included on GL with the Automatic & Premium Packages and GLS. V6 models come with a 5-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC™.
Airbags1
Each Sonata comes equipped with a 6-airbag system including two advanced front airbags, two front seat-mounted side-impact airbags and two roof-mounted side-curtain airbags, protecting occupants from injury in certain impact conditions.
Active Head Restraints
Sonata is equipped with front seat active head restraints. Utilizing the occupant's weight thrust onto the backrest when the vehicle is rear-ended, the headrest automatically shifts forward, reducing injuries to the head and neck.
Braking
Enjoy the peace of mind of the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) that prevents tires from slipping due to wheel locking. It’s standard on GL V6, GLS and Limited models and available on GL as part of the Premium Package.
Safety-cage Construction
Sonata’s reinforced unibody construction – comprised of high-tensile steel – is engineered to work with front/rear crumple zones, body-side reinforcements and hood-buckling creases helping to keep you safe.
Child Seat Anchors
Sonata is the perfect vehicle for growing families thanks to the LATCH child-seat tether anchors that ensure accurate and easy installation every time.
