Hyundai Elantra
Overview
Upscale Charms Meet Pure Practicality
Canadians increasingly demand more compact and efficient designs from their vehicles. Hyundai designers have responded by paying close attention and taking the time to get the Elantra right. The new Elantra has evolved into the perfect solution to any compact buyer's needs. One might expect a compact car to come with a compact engine. Not so. The Elantra's high-spirited 138 horsepower, inline 4-cylinder, DOHC engine benefits from the latest technologies. The Elantra is also a lot of fun to drive, whether you prefer its 5-speed manual transmission or available 4-speed automatic with overdrive (standard on GLS and Limited). So, consider the Elantra's class-leading interior space, standard safety features, responsive handling, refined ride, and superior build quality. Redefining the category on all counts, and reflecting a new attitude, the Elantra boasts many of the comforts of a larger car while never compromising the practicality of its compact size.

Engine
The new Elantra is powered by a 2.0 L, 16-valve, DOHC, 4-cylinder inline engine with Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) and 138 horsepower
Transmission
Elantra L, GL and GLS with Sport Package come equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive, while both GLS and Limited come with a standard 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The 4-speed automatic transmission is optional on all other models.
Airbags1
All models come standard with dual front airbags. GLS, GLS with Sport Package and Limited also have the added safety of standard front seat-mounted side-impact and rear roof-mounted side-curtain airbags.
Braking
Elantra GLS, GLS with Sport Package and Limited models come with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). During abrupt and hard braking, the brakes are automatically applied and released several times per second to prevent tires from slipping due to wheel locking.
Active Head Restraints
Front seat active head restraints are part of the safety package on Elantra GLS, GLS with Sport Package and Limited. Utilizing the occupant's weight thrust onto the backrest when the vehicle is rear-ended, the headrest automatically shifts forward, reducing injuries to the head and neck.
Remote Keyless Entry with Alarm
A remote keyless entry with alarm, included with GL, GLS, GLS with Sport Package and Limited, puts convenience and security at your fingertips.
Side Beams
Elantra's ultra-safe body design includes a safety cage construction with body-side reinforcements, steel side-impact door beams and built-in front and rear crumple zones.
1 The Supplemental Restraint (Airbag) System (SRS) is designed to work with the 3-point seatbelt system. The SRS deploys in certain frontal and/or side-impact conditions where significant injury is likely. The SRS is not a substitute for seatbelts, which must still be worn at all times. Children under the age of 13 should be securely restrained in the rear seat. NEVER place a rear-facing child-seat in the front seat of a vehicle with an airbag.
