Performance & Safety

Engine

All models come equipped with a 1.6L, 16-valve DOHC 4-cylinder engine with Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) and Multi-Point Fuel Injection (MPI), delivering 110 horsepower.

Side Beams

Safety cage construction, steel side-impact door beams and built-in front and rear crumple zones add to driver and passenger safety in all models.

Transmission

Take control with a 5-speed manual transmission. Or choose the available 4-speed automatic transmission – standard on GLS – that offers better fuel economy for highway driving.

Airbags¹

Dual front airbags are standard, while Accent GLS adds four more: two front seat-mounted side-impact airbags and two roof-mounted side-curtain airbags.

Wheels

15” alloy wheels are standard on Accent GLS. Accent L and GL come equipped with 14” steel wheels with full wheel covers.

Braking

All Accent models include power-assisted, ventilated front disc and rear drum brakes while GLS adds the security of an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) that prevents tires from slipping due to wheel locking.

Seatbelts

All Accents are equipped with 3-point seatbelt pretensioners in the front seating positions that cinch the belt at impact to properly position and secure the occupants. Built-in force limiters reduce torso stress.

¹ The Supplemental Restraint (Airbag) System (SRS) is designed to work with the 3-point seatbelt system. The SRS deploys in certain front end impact conditions where significant injury is likely. The SRS is not a substitute for seatbelts which must still be worn at all times. Children under the age of 13 should be securely restrained in the rear seat. NEVER place a rear-facing child seat in the front seat of a vehicle.
